About the Hooligans

Tampa Bay's crew of cigar enthusiasts who take the smoke seriously and not much else. Here's the honest version of who we are.

Origin Story

Who We Are

Tampa Bay Cigar Hooligans started the way most good things do — a handful of people who liked cigars kept running into each other and finally said "we should make this a thing."

We're Tampa Bay locals. We hang out in Ybor City, on beach patios, at brewery taprooms, and wherever else you can light up without someone giving you a look. We do regular meetups, private tastings, lounge nights, and festival runs. We share what we're smoking, honest opinions on what's worth buying, and the occasional bad bourbon decision that turns into a good story.

This is a social club, not a cigar education program. You don't need to know anything going in. You do need to have enough curiosity to explore something worth your time, and enough character to be decent company.

We're Tampa. We smoke accordingly.

What Drives Us

What We Stand For

Brotherhood

The whole point. Good smoke is better with good company. We show up for each other, introduce new members with decency, and keep the vibe right.

The Leaf

We take cigars seriously but not ourselves. We like what we like, we share what we learn, and we're genuinely curious about what's in the humidor next to the one we already know.

Local First

Tampa Bay is our home turf. We support local lounges, local events, and local businesses. Ybor City didn't build this cigar culture for us to ignore it.

No Gatekeeping

If you're curious about cigars, you're welcome here. We don't quiz you at the door. We don't rank people by what they're smoking. You just have to show up.

Honest Opinions

We tell you what we actually think about cigars, lounges, and bourbons. No brand deals shaping our recommendations. If it's bad, we'll say so. If it's great, you'll hear about it.

The Spirit of It

We appreciate a well-paired bourbon. We believe the best cigar session is the one with people worth talking to. We know how to have a good time and we try not to take the good time for granted.

Fair Warning

What to Expect

At a Meetup

Show up. Light something. Talk to people. If you're new, say so — someone will take care of you. We usually post an RSVP link for headcount, but we don't turn people away at the door. Bring a cigar to share if the spirit moves you, but it's not required.

The Vibe

Relaxed, confident, a little loud, occasionally opinionated about tobacco. Not formal. Not rowdy. Think "crew of people who've smoked a thousand cigars together" — that's what we're building toward. Everyone was new once.

Member Expectations

Be decent. Be real. Show up when you say you're coming. Don't be the person who makes the lounge staff regret letting us book the back patio. That's basically it. The bar is high where it counts and low where it doesn't.

For the record — what this isn't

  • A cigar education program with homework
  • A velvet-rope club with an approval process
  • Pretentious about anything
  • A brand or a business in disguise
  • Gatekept by what brand you're smoking
  • A place where anyone gets kicked out for being a beginner
